While some people might wonder why an SUV that is not even sold in US be given that exposure, well the new Peugeot Hybrid is said to be world’s first of its kind hybrid electric vehicle. The vehicle is tall and heavy; it comes with an all wheel drive options and emits just 99 grams of CO2 per kilometer. This is one of the best diesel subcompacts anyone can get in a Hybrid system; it gives a startling 68 miles per gallon. The new 2011 Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 4 gives the output of 163 horsepower with a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine that has an electronically controlled sequential manual transmission option. The two-powertrain options in the new 2011 Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 4 will be offered in four modes of operation. The power four modes include an automatic mode, the sport mode, the ZEV mode and four wheel drive mode. The automotive mode runs the vehicle in front wheel drive mode while the sport mode runs the vehicle in quicker acceleration and higher revs, both of these modes adds torque at the rear to boost acceleration system of the machine. The four wheel drive mode makes use of rear mounted electric motor that helps to power the rear wheels all the time and the ZEV mode makes use of the rear motor to move the car at lower speeds. The electric motor of the machine run on nickel metal hydride battery pack that uses regenerative braking system that turns the electric motor into generator that can store the energy back in the battery.

The new 2011 Peugeot 3008 Hybrid 4 is the first handful of vehicles that will house Peugeot diesel hybrid system. Other automotive car makers are also planning to develop the diesel hybrid vehicles and the latest amongst them includes E 300 Bluetec Hybrid machine. The Paris motor show will see the unveiling of compact 68 mpg crossover. The diesel hybrid vehicles have been slow in sales as compared to the gasoline models the first of such kinds were produced in the year 1997 with the new Toyota Prius. The diesel machines are said to develop the high torque at low engine speeds as in the case with electric motors. Most of the people today are wisely investing in buying diesel machines as they give greater fuel efficiency than their gas counterparts.
