Regular and Electric Versions of Nissan NV200 Possible for U.S. in 2010

Carlos Tavares, Nissan Americas President, recently announced at the ‘At the Work Truck 2010’ show that this popular manufacturing company is in the process of trying to bring the NV200 compact van that was recently launched to the market of the United States. To go into competition with the new Transit Connect that was released by Ford, the Nissan NV200 will be joining the commercial lineup of the company’s new NV full-size vans.

Tavares also indicated that there will be an electric version that will begin being produced of the NV200 van, in parallel with the small commercial automobile program of Ford, and the NV200 of Nissan could join the lineup of zero emissions vehicles that the company is plans to produce. The plans for the electric NV00 were first announced by Nissan’s CEO, Carlos Ghosn, at the Motor Showin Tokyo. Although only a single sketch of the NV200 van that Nissan plans to produce has been seen, it is highly likely that the coming months will bring along a concept car.
